Junior Analyst

eMarketer is a subscription-based business intelligence service that enables our clients to make better decisions in a world being transformed by digital. We do that by aggregating, filtering, organizing and analyzing essential data and perspectives from multiple sources, including our own forecasts and estimates, and delivering insights that our clients are able to act on.

eMarketer seeks new members of its content team, to assist our analysts with the writing of their reports. Those taking on this role will be in a key position to learn about the most important forces transforming digital marketing, advertising and technology today.

The responsibilities here will be varied. The job is highly collaborative, as you’ll be working with our interviewing, forecasting, research and copyediting teams as well as the analysts themselves. Your day might include analyzing and synthesizing national and international trends; searching interview transcripts for a killer quote; tracking down a key source, data point or chart; conducting interviews of your own; writing sidebars or other parts of a report; or dropping in on a sales meeting to better understand our clients’ needs. It might also include taking existing content and repackaging it in new forms, writing your own pieces or occasionally being a guest on our podcast.

To succeed in this role, you should be a quick study, and be able (and willing!) to jump headfirst into new projects. And because this role is meant to lead to writing long-form pieces, you should be able to demonstrate the desire and ability to constantly improve and work toward becoming an analyst of your own.

Because learning how to analyze data and write about digital marketing in the eMarketer style are both critical components of this role, previous journalism or other nonfiction writing experience will be very important—Be ready to show that you know how to address an audience effectively and can find meaningful trends in data. A good basic knowledge of and passion for advertising, social media and technology will also be helpful.
